BALTIMORE PIKE
EXECUTIVE OFFICE
At the time we were engaged for this project, the client was already working with J.THOM on his residence and sought to bring the same level of design rigor and craftsmanship to his executive office. The original space was accessed by a narrow, enclosed staircase and consisted of a dark, cramped office, an outdated bathroom, and a separate conference room anchored by an antiquated table. Our vision was to unify the office and conference room into a generous executive suite, allowing for intimate meetings at a round table, informal conversations in a lounge area with a full wet bar, and a completely reimagined bathroom.
Significant architectural challenges (including a load-bearing wall, limited natural light, and the tight stair) were addressed by opening the structure as much as possible, introducing glass brick windows, relocating the bathroom, and replacing the stair wall with a glass and metal railing.
The resulting design draws inspiration from a Mad Men–era Mid-Century Modern aesthetic with a Space-Age twist, featuring restored period furnishings, custom walnut cabinetry by a local craftsman, and layered textures throughout. In the bath, curved partitions, mosaic tile, custom terrazzo, and a restored MCM infinity mirror create a striking, immersive experience that completes the transformation.
